‘Auction Apprentice’ nets £1,000 for Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal
A charity auction organised by pupils at Robert Gordon’s College has raised more than £1,000 for Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal. S6 pupils were set an ‘Auction Apprentice’ challenge as part of their post-exam programme in June.
The auction took place on Wednesday 22 June when those attending were able to bid for a fantastic, fascinating and attractive range of items which included services and products donated by local businesses, staff, pupils, former pupils and parents.
The hammer was brought down on all of these lots by Amy Bryce, Angelica Compatangelo, Rebecca Elder and Romy Grieve (all 17). Romy commented, “We’re all delighted that the event raised so much money for such an excellent cause.”
Mike Elder, the deputy head in charge of S6, added, “It was a great event and I was extremely impressed by the efforts of the Sixth Year pupils as it is no easy task to run a successful auction. The atmosphere during the auction was totally absorbing, to the extent that I got carried away and ended up bidding against myself for one item - needless to say, it was the higher of my two bids which was accepted!”
The auction raised £1,073.20, and the addition of income from other S6 fundraising activities meant that a grand total of £1,457.69 was donated to the Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal.Thorpe Molloy Recruitment Teeing Off For Charity Golf Marathon
