A Fitting Donation to Mark Maggie’s Edinburgh’s 15th Year

Maggie’s Edinburgh Centre receives a fantastic donation of £1515.15 from Apex International Hotel. The apt donation is to mark Maggie’s 15th anniversary year and the pioneering cancer charity’s growth to 15 centres either built or in development.

The staff at Apex International Hotel wanted to get involved in celebrating Maggie’s Edinburgh’s landmark 15th birthday year and therefore chose to set themselves the appropriate fundraising target of £1515.15. Apex staff hit their target through various fundraising endeavours, including, Christmas cloakroom donations, car washes, monthly prize draws and raffles as well as cake bakes. Apex is also celebrating turning 15 this year.

Susan Reid, Apex’s Conference & Events Operations Manager said: “The staff were all really motivated and behind the fundraising and enjoyed getting on board with Maggie’s Edinburgh celebrations. We set ourselves the target of raising the £1515.15 at the beginning of the year and where surprised how quickly we managed to achieve it.” To find out more about the Apex Hotels please go to www.apexhotels.co.uk

Marion Taylor, Community Fundraiser for Maggie’s Edinburgh said: “We have had a relationship with the Apex International now for a couple of years and I am delighted to see how much they have raised and looking forward to sharing some birthday cake with them all as a thank you. It’s fantastic that Maggie’s started right here in Edinburgh. And the huge growth to 15 centres is testament to the great need of Maggie’s Centres in providing people with the space and skills needed to face cancer.”

The first Maggie’s Centre opened in Edinburgh in 1996 and there are now 15 centres either established or in development across the UK. From the Highlands to London, Maggie’s have helped nearly half a million people to build a life with, through and beyond cancer, and have been recognised by the Department of Health as providing outstanding cancer care.
Marion added: “I would encourage others to get behind our 15 years 15 centres campaign. Why not set yourself the target of raising £15, £150 or £1515 towards Maggie’s Edinburgh. Get in touch and I can help you come up with ideas on how to get involved - 0131 537 3135.”
