About Maggie's

Since 2007, Maggie's has been working in partnership with Walk the Walk to develop innovative ideas which will benefit people affected by cancer.
The redevelopment of this website, including the Maggie's Online Centre and the piloting of online support groups facilitated by a Maggie's psychologist, has been funded with the support of Walk the Walk.
In addition, Walk the Walk, through funds raised by its Edinburgh Moonwalkers, will be the sole funder of a new Maggie's Centre being built at Gartnavel Hospital in Glasgow, one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe. More information about this planned Centre will be available soon.
Visit www.walkthewalk.org for more information about Walk the Walk and the 2009 Moonwalks.

The Wellness Community (TWC) founded in 1982 as a non-profit organisation based in the USA providing support, education, and hope to people with cancer and those they care for.
In the early days, TWC helped to inspire the concepts and philosophy of Maggie's as we set up our first centre in the UK. Both organisations provide similar programmes including support groups, stress management and other courses and educational workshops for people living with, through and after cancer.
The Wellness Community is an international, non-profit organization that provides support, education and hope to people with cancer and those who care for them. By offering free professionally-led support groups, educational workshops, nutrition and exercise programs, and stress-reduction classes, The Wellness Community helps individuals affected by cancer learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation and enhance quality of life. The Wellness Community also collaborates with academic and medicinal partners to conduct evidence-based research and provide training in the field of psychosocial oncology with the goal of improving outcomes and quality of life for cancer patients, cancer survivors, and the individuals who care for them. The Wellness Community assists people affected by cancer at over 100 locations worldwide including 24 U.S. based and 2 international centers with 73 satellite and off-site programs and online at www.thewellnesscommunity.org.
Maggie's shares a number of long term objectives with TWC and are currently in partnership in delivering the ‘Frankly Speaking’ workshops which give people the opportunity to learn more about the management of side effects of their cancer treatment.
