Maggie's Cotswolds: Under construction in January 2010

“250,000 people are diagnosed with cancer every year”

Have you heard about Love Maggie's Day?

Maggie's Cotswolds is part of the Joy of Living campaign. We are working towards raising £3 million for our Cotswolds' Centre which is now under construction at Cheltenham General Hospital.

Construction on Maggie's Cotswolds started in September 2009 and the centre is on track to open in Summer 2010. You can see the latest photos of the building's progress in the gallery on the Online Centre.

Around 4,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the Cotswolds each year, and this Maggie's  Centre will be there for everyone affected by cancer in the Three Counties area of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, a population of more than 1,100,000.

Sir Richard MacCormac CBE, a former President of the RIBA and one of Britain’s most distinguished architects, has created a beautiful design which sensitively converts and extends an existing Grade II listed building. Dr Christine Facer is working with Sir Richard on the garden design. The centre is only two minutes walk from the Oncology Department at Cheltenham General Hospital.

Maggie's Cotswolds has so far raised an incredible £2 million, enough to start construction, but another £1 million pounds is needed over the next year to allow the centre to become fully operational.
