James Kelly tackles Many Miles for Maggie’s

James Kelly is once again raising funds Maggie’s. This time he will embark on a 500 mile cycle trip around Scotland setting off on Bell's Bridge in Glasgow on 26th August 2010, heading to Callander, Newtonmore, Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Biggar, and finishing at home, in Kilmacolm, on the 4th September! James is calling his challenge "Many Miles For Maggie's".
James intends to split the monies raised between Maggie's Glasgow – in memory of his good friend, the late David Brain and Maggie's Edinburgh in the name of the late Linda Gunning. Please give generously to support James in this mammoth task!

freshnlo Pedal for Scotland is now open for registration for 2010 - and this time there’s three options to choose from.
Scotland’s biggest bike ride just got even bigger, as you can now pick from three rides:
Challenge Ride – the classic 51-mile Glasgow to Edinburgh Challenge.
Sportive Ride – a 100-mile Glasgow to Edinburgh route aimed at the keen road cyclist.
Family Ride – a short off-road ride for families, youngsters and new cyclists.See Glasgow in a new light

The first ever Glasgow Night Hike 10-mile route will take place on Friday 17 September 2010. Building on the amazing success of Maggie’s London Night Hike, this inaugural event will offer a different Friday night out while raising vital funds for our network of Maggie’s Centres.
Maggie’s Glasgow Night Hike will take you on a unique 10-mile tour of Glasgow, where you will see, experience and access some of the best buildings Glasgow has to offer.

We hope to see you at Fereneze Golf Club on Sunday 19 September to take part in this Mixed Open. The entry fee is £20 per couple (with a handicap limit of 28 for gentlemen and 36 for ladies).

When Linda decided to raise money for Maggie's she invited over 40 friends for lunch at her home in Giffnock. With wonderful gifts donated to a raffle and auction from a number of businesses within her local community, Linda and her friends raised over £2000 for Maggie's Glasgow.

On Sunday 27 June 2010, 300 joined local hairdresser Andy to celebrate his special birthday and 10 years supporting Maggie's Glasgow. With some fantastic cabaret acts, great food and amazing table prizes Andy's party really was a night of fun and frolics, which generated over £14,000 for the Glasgow centre.
Andy was overwhelmed by the generosity of all his friends and family but paid special tribute to the wonderful support from his friend Lorraine McInnes who was key in helping him organise his big birthday party and his brother Barry Adams, who donated a fantastic Russell Flint print that was won with a £500 bid during his silent auction.
Maggie's would also like to thank centre user Jim McPherson, who kindly donated his time and photographic skills as official event photographer. Jim's photographs are now availiable (in exchange for a small donation) at Andy Adams hair salon, 61 Chancellor St, Glasgow G11 5PR.Glitterbelles

Angela Graham supported by her friends Nikki Sharp and Tara Patrick decided to host a wonderful ball that would help raise funds for Maggie's Glasgow, Walk the Walk and a local cancer research fund to say thank you for the wonderful support she received whilst being treated for breast cancer three years ago.
The first Glitterball was held on Saturday 26th June 2010, hosted by Clyde 1's Suzie Maguire with special guests including Clyde 1 breakfast show host George Bowie, and motivational speaker Watt Nicol.
Maggie's Glasgow has been gifted a donation of £20,000 as a result of this really wonderful event.
Angela says that although she had a wonderful network of friends and family to support her during treatment she needed a little more help and found talking with other woman through the Look Good Feel Better classes at Maggie's Glasgow invaluable.Craig Mackie, Old Swan Inn, Paisley

James and his wonderful team of family members and friends recently held a fundraising night in their local pub – Wintergills on Great Western Road. The evening was a huge success with everything from Old Firm football strips being auctioned to raffle prizes. A fantastic £1,250 was raised for Maggie’s and the evening was dedicated to James late wife Mary.
Flip Flop Exhibition

Janet Stephen used her love of flip flops to create one of the most innovative fundraising activities we have seen – a flip flop exhibition! Janet invited her friends and family along to her house and asked for a small donation for the privilege of viewing all ‘flip flop’ style items – everything from balloons to key rings to actual flip flops! Well done to Janet for raising a brilliant £500 for Maggie’s.
Love Maggie's Day Craft Stall

Members of Maggie’s Knitting Group; Jess Farrell, Bernie Peacock, Christine Harding and Beatrice Russell organised a craft stall at Gartnavel Hospital and raised a fantastic £650! The ladies have organised many other craft stalls for us and never fail to produce beautiful things to sell on the stall! Thanks also go to everyone who donated items.

Judy Norman and Melanie Links hosted a stall at Buchanan Galleries. The stall was designed to raise awareness of Love Maggie’s Day. For a small donation, shoppers were able to take away a delicious, specially created, Love Maggie’s raspberry jam! Love Maggie’s Day on 26 March was a huge success here at Maggie’s Glasgow.
Mohammad Sarwar visited the centre and took part in our ‘hug’ as did children from Hyndland Primary, Notre Dame High School and The West End Montessori Nursery. We had lots of activity on the day, but the bake sale was a biggest success – raising a fantastic £400! Our table was overflowing with sweet treats!Guess The Weight of Jim MacPherson’s wonderful Maggie’s Fruit Cake!

Dorothy’s passion for Maggie’s certainly shone in her Love Maggie’s Day Dinner Dance event! The evening, held at David Lloyd, Anniesland was filled with laughter, dancing and of course fundraising! An Asian Lantern release at midnight closed this successful event. Dorothy and her team of wonderful friends raised the impressive sum of £4,000 for Maggie’s Glasgow. A huge thank you to Dorothy and all involved!

Two loyal Maggie’s supporting sisters hosted yet another ladies night to raise funds for Maggie’s Glasgow. The event, held in Nitshill included a jewellery stall, an enormous raffle, DJ and of course the all important pie and peas! The evening raised over £1,500. Thank you so much to Marie, Liz, Jordanna and Julie.
Leverndale Hospital Runs a Mile for Maggie’s

Staff and patients took part in fundraising activities throughout this fabulous day at Leverndale Hospital. Creative staff members made personalised Easter cards to order, the café served tea and cakes, everyone got involved with the mile walk around the grounds and The Easter Bunny also collected donations from the wards! This wonderful team have raised over £1,500 for our cause! Special thanks go to Liz Thomas, Brian Reid for organising and managing the whole day.
