Getting a Lift to Maggie's Glasgow

Maggie's Glasgow are launching a a pilot project in collaboration with Community Transport Glasgow to help people to access the Centre. Call 0141 330 4526 to book your place.

If the first time you want to visit Maggie's Glasgow you feel public transport would take too long or you are a little apprehensive to step into the centre, then let us collect you and then take you home.

Maureen will welcome you to the Centre between 1pm and 3pm and will talk to you about our programme and drop in and how we can help you.

Tracy, our driver, will come and collect you and take you home afterwards. You will meet a member of the Maggie's team who will provide you with information and emotional support and help you think about how we can help in the future.

Grace Bennett, a senior citizen from Helensburgh, uses the Getting a Lift service every week.

Grace, who used to travel by train, bus and foot all in one journey to the Centre, said:

“Often when having chemotheraphy or surgery you can’t drive and have little energy for public transport but that’s when you most need the Centre. When I was undergoing treatment the real turning point for me was walking through the door at Maggie’s. I got so much out of Maggie's that I wanted to continue coming here long after treatment but then I badly injured my ankle, which greatly restricted my movement. It was upsetting that I was no longer able to make my way to Maggie’s but that’s all changed now that this fabulous door to door bus service is up and running.”

If you would like to use this service all you have to do is call 0141 330 4526 and speak to Margaret who will book your place.
