Building Work at Raigmore Hospital

Work starts adjacent to Maggie’s Highlands on Monday 28th January 2008 for approximately 96 weeks.  We hope that any disruption to the centre will be avoided, or at worst, kept to a minimum.

The project is to build two bunkers to house the additional linear accelerator (radiotherapy treatment machine), and extend the radiotherapy workshop.  When this is complete, NHS Highland will be in a position to offer an improved service for people affected by cancer.

Robertson’s Construction’s site compound is situated adjacent to our boundary on the east side of the centre.  This will mean that the centre will not be immediately visible when approaching from the Inshes roundabout.  However, we have agreed that there will be prominent signage on the exterior fencing to indicate that Maggie’s is open as usual during the work.

In the meantime, car parking will be severely limited, including the loss of some disabled parking places.  We suggest that, if travelling to the centre during the day, you consider parking your car in the main hospital car park, or leaving your car away from the hospital, and using public transport to travel in.  Anyone who has particular difficulty with these arrangements, including those with disabled permits, please contact the centre, and we will do our utmost to find an easier solution for your visit.

If you experience any difficulties, whilst visiting Maggie’s Highlands, please talk to Carole.  We hope we have predicted most eventualities, but if not, we will do our best to make your visit to the centre as enjoyable as usual.
