  • Premiere of surf movie 'Antics'

    Sunday 19th October 2008

Gary Irving, producer of surf movie ‘Antics’ has kindly given the rights to premiere his movie to raise funds for the Maggie’s Centre at Singleton Hospital.

Gary, son in law of the late Paul Newman, describing the movie, said ‘Skimming the talent pool of 100’s of Santa Cruz finest surfers, Antics takes a look at just 14.  Although the primary focus is high performance longboarding, logging and shortboarding are mixed together to remove the stigma of taking sides.  At the end of the day it’s all surfing and it’s all fun!’

Paul Newman is connected to Maggie's South West Wales because family member, Michelle Irving, who’s brother is married to Nell, Paul’s daughter, had cancer and is receiving support from the interim facility at Singleton Hospital.  In fact, in August this year, the Newman’s Own Foundation donated £13,000 to the Maggie's South West Wales appeal.

The movie premiere will be held on Sunday, October 19th, 7pm to 10pm, at the Taliesin Arts Centre – Swansea University.  Tickets cost just £10 each.  You can purchase tickets from the Taliesin Arts Centre Box Office on 01792 602060 or on www.taliesinartscentre.co.uk
