Events and Giving
Would you like to be an Active Friend of Maggie's?
What are Active Friends?
Active friends are groups of remarkable people who get together to raise money for Maggie’s.
They make sure that as many people as possible get to hear about Maggie’s and the support it offers to anyone affected in anyway by cancer.
They help to keep us going.
Who is in a group?
Groups are made up of lots of different sorts of people.
It might be work colleagues, friends, families or neighbours.
It might just be that you all live near each other.
You can make your own group or we can put you in touch with a group in your area.
How big are the group sizes?
Groups are made up of between five and ten volunteers.
What do they do?
You know your community the best. Your group will decide how you want to fundraise and how much money you want to aim for. We will give you all the advice and help you need at every stage of the process.
Examples of what Active Friends have done
Julie from Hammersmith in West London got together with five work colleagues and decided they could raise £5000 for Maggie’s London. They’re planning a treasure hunt, a talent show and a lunchtime quiz at their work place.
We can give you lots of ideas and support for fundraising from collecting tins in the high street to arranging a coffee morning. You can think big and hold a Summer ball or keep it local and hold a sponsored walk. The choice is yours.
