Why?
With one in three people in the UK expected to be affected by cancer at some point in their lifetime, the need for Maggie's Centres has never been greater. Maggie's Mighty Bike and Hike is our first event in Wales and one that is set to benefit our Joy of Living Campaign to build Cancer Caring Centres in Oxford, Cotswolds, Nottingham, North East England and South West Wales.
Around 6,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in South West Wales each year and the Maggie's Centre that we are planning for the South West Wales Cancer Centre at Singleton Hospital, Swansea, will be a place for everyone affected by cancer in the entire region - a population in excess of 900,000.
We are currently operating an interim service to support around 20,000 people living with cancer in the region. By taking part in Mighty Bike and Hike and raising your minimum fundraising amount you will be supporting Maggie's Centres to ensure that Maggie's South West Wales and our other Joy of Living Centres become a reality for thousands more people who need Maggie's support.
So please give up one day of your life to support the lives of others.
