Legacy
One of the easiest ways to help Maggie’s is by leaving a donation as a legacy. Making a will is a positive and pro-active step and will make sure that you continue to help people with cancer in the future. Leaving a legacy helps us continue the work that you have achieved in your lifetime.
Preparing a will is very straightforward. There are many prepared packs that you can purchase. You can either write and keep a will in a safe place (following instructions in the pack) or we recommend that you appoint a solicitor who will arrange all the paper work for you.
After you have made provision for family and friends you may decide you wish to leave a donation to Maggie’s. There are a number of ways to do this.
A residuary bequest
If you wish to leave Maggie’s your whole estate or a proportion of your estate you could use this wording:
“I give all (or a fractional share of) the residue of my estate to The Maggie Keswick Jencks Cancer Caring Trust Charity no. SC024414 (herinafter called “the charity”) such sum to be applied for general charitable purposes and I direct that a receipt of the Finance Officer for the time being of the charity shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Executors for the said gift.”
A pecuniary bequest
If you wish to leave Maggie’s a donation in your will then you could use the following wording:
“I give to The Maggie Keswick Jencks Cancer Caring Trust Charity no. SC024414 (herinafter called “the charity”) the sum of £---------- to be applied for general charitable purposes and I direct that a receipt of the Finance Officer for the time being of the charity shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Executors for the said gift.”
