“...we’re even more delighted to be involved with their (Versus) first Scottish event. It's fantastic news that they are now getting involved in Scotland with the money raised from the show going to Scottish cancer charities. We can't wait, it's going to be a fantastic night”

Maggie's to benefit from Glasgow Versus Cancer concert

Maggie's is delighted to be one of several charities that will benefit from the Glasgow Versus Cancer concert taking place at the SECC on Friday November 28th.

The Glasgow concert follows on from the highly successful Manchester Versus Cancer concert that has been running for three years. The Manchester concert was set up by former Smiths bassist Andy Rourke and his friend Nova Rehman after Nova's father and sister were both diagnosed with cancer. The Manchester concerts have featured artists and bands like New Order, The Charlatans, Ian Brown and Noel Gallagher.

The first Glasgow concert will feature top Scottish bands Travis and The Fratellis, along with up and coming Scottish acts Attic Lights and Sergeant. Joining the Scot's will be legendary Liverpool band Echo & The Bunnymen and the pure pop sound of Alphabeat. Special guests will also be appearing on the night.

Maggie's Glasgow Centre head, Maureen Fee, said: "The Versus concert is fantastic for Glasgow and it is bringing together a number of charities that all work hard to provide information, support and care to people living with cancer and their family, friends and carers. Maggie's Glasgow Centre has been open for six years and receives 12,000 visits per year. Roughly the same number of people that will be attending the Versus concert. There is a real sense of community within the centre and I am sure that there will be the same warm atmosphere at the concert. I'd encourage people to go along for a great night out, with some amazing bands on the one bill, for a fantastic cause."

Jon Fratelli said: "We were fortunate enough to see the first two Versus Cancer shows and delighted to be asked to perform at the third, so we’re even more delighted to be involved with their first Scottish event. It's fantastic news that they are now getting involved in Scotland with the money raised from the show going to Scottish cancer charities. We can't wait, it's going to be a fantastic night."

Tickets for this amazing concert are only £30 and are available from the SECC website or the Versus website.
