“Maggie's London is a beautiful building and I am glad that I was able to see for myself how important Maggie's is. What immediately came to my mind were the words 'life' and 'light' and that's what I believe Maggie's is bringing to people living with cancer”

Sex and the City star, Kim Cattrall, visits Maggie's London

Kim Cattrall visited Maggie’s London Centre this week to speak to staff and centre users about the massive impact that the recently opened centre is making to the thousands of Londoners affected by cancer.

Speaking about her visit to Maggie's London, Kim Cattrall, said: “When my character Samantha, in Sex and the City, was diagnosed with breast cancer I knew it was important that she should approach it with her usual positive drive and humour. Her personality didn't change because of her diagnosis.

At the same time, a family friend was diagnosed and this made me even more determined to make Samantha's experience authentic and true.

Recently I visited the Maggie's Centre in London, which is beside the Charing Cross Hospital. Designed by Richard Rogers, this is a beautiful building and I am glad that I was able to see for myself how important Maggie's is. What immediately came to my mind were the words 'life' and 'light' and that's what I believe Maggie's is bringing to people living with cancer.”

Maggie’s London, which is the first of a network of six Maggie’s Centres across England and Wales, has been exceptionally busy since opening two months ago, with around 60 people using the centre on a daily basis.
