The Maggie's Stand at AJ Bell Stadium
Maggie's at The Christie
Maggie's and The Christie are working in partnership to create cancer support of the highest quality for people in the North West. The new Centre is being designed by multi-award winning, Manchester-born architect Lord Norman Foster, and the landscaping will be designed by acclaimed landscape architect Dan Pearson.
What is Maggie's?
Maggie’s provides emotional, practical and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. The Centres are beautifully desgined buildings located in the grounds of NHS hospitals across the country. Maggie's Centres follow the ideas about cancer care originally laid out by Maggie Keswick Jencks, the co-founder of the charity who died of breast cancer in 1995.
There are now 15 Centres open across the UK, with plans to build nine more over the next five years, including Maggie's at The Christie, to help as many people with cancer as possible.
The Maggie's Stand
The Maggie's Stand at the AJ Bell Stadium, home of Sale Sharks and Salford Red Devils, was a gift from Manchester-based investment platform AJ Bell.
Maggie's currently has low awareness in the North West region, and it was agreed re-naming the stadium's North stand "Maggie's Stand" could continue to raise awareness of Maggie's and the new Centre at The Christie.
Andy Bell, Chief Executive of AJ Bell, said: "We are really pleased to be able to help Maggie's raise its profile in this way - we hope that it can play some part in helping more people recognise the organisation and the great work that it does."
