Atos Origin Marathon runner drums up money for Maggie's
Iain Harper from leading international IT services company Atos Origin has raised £1,800 for charity after running this year’s London Marathon.
The Dundee-based employee of Atos Origin ran his eleventh marathon earlier this year in April, achieving a time of 5 hours 14 minutes and a total of £1,835.13 for charity through sponsorship raised from colleagues, family and friends.
A cheque for £1,322 was presented to Maggie’s Centre in Dundee and Iain also raised £512 for Help for Heroes.
Tracey Curry from Maggie’s Centre in Dundee said: “What an achievement. We are delighted with the efforts made by Iain Harper and Atos Origin in terms of fundraising for Maggie’s Centres. Their kind donations over the past three years are very much appreciated and are helping with our Clown Doctor visits and art therapy sessions for children whose parents have cancer. It’s inspiring to see an organisation taking time to do extraordinary things for charity – thanks again.”
Iain Harper, IT Support at Atos Origin, said: “This year was my fourth London marathon and my eleventh marathon in total. It was pretty tough with the heat, a roasting 26 degrees despite it being April. It was all worthwhile though, especially given the amount I was able to raise. Thanks to all of those who sponsored me. I am now training for two half marathons later in the year and I’m hoping to be as successful in raising funds for worthwhile causes like Maggie’s Centres and Help for Heroes.”
