Majestic Wine marks the opening of their 169th store by showing support for Maggie's

Majestic Wine opened their 169th store on Friday 5 August in Dundee and dedicated the weekend to showing its support for their Charity of the Year, Maggie's.
The store opening also marked another significant milestone for Majestic, who have raised an incredible £20,000 since Maggie's became their national Charity of the Year in January. Majestic staff and customers have raised this money through collection tins, recycling and staff fundraising.
Gemma McDonald, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Maggie's, opened the new store: “Maggie’s is delighted to be celebrating this milestone with Majestic Wine, after a very successful first six months of our charity of the year partnership. In this time Majestic and their staff have shown a huge commitment to Maggie’s, raising funds both in store and through taking on challenges for us in their community, such as half marathons and sky diving.
"Majestic have helped us spread awareness of Maggie's cancer support to their customers across the country, letting people know about the support that is on their doorstep if they are affected by cancer – helping people make their way to places like Maggie’s Dundee so that we can make sure they receive the support they need to live with, through and beyond cancer. We are looking forward to the next six months of our partnership, and would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone at Majestic Wine for their ongoing support.”
As part of the opening weekend, 10% of Majestic Dundee's first weekend's takings were also donated to Maggie's.
In September 2011 a number of Majestic staff from across the country will continue to contribute to Majestic's support of Maggie's by taking part in this year's Marathon du Médoc.
