RBS Staff come together to raise money for Maggie's
This September, Maria Smith took part in Pedal for Scotland for Maggie’s and inspired her colleagues at RBS to take on their own challenge.
Cheered on by friends and colleagues Maria, an Area Manager for RBS, embarked on the 51 mile Pedal for Scotland cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Over 9,000 participants saddled up for a fun and active day.
Maggie’s were the charity partner of Pedal for Scotland for the third consecutive year and Maria's decision to support Maggie’s in the ride, meant that her fantastic fundraising efforts, netting £750 in sponsorship, have gone towards supporting people affected by cancer across the UK.
Maria’s work colleagues at RBS in Glasgow were so impressed with her commitment to training for the event and fundraising, they decided they would like to do something similar. Following discussion at their team meeting, Neil Wilkie, Karin McMurray, Gerry Frew and a few more colleagues decided they would climb Ben Lomond together.
The weather was not so kind this time around and the team battled with the pouring rain. Despite the weather the team were determined the complete the climb. They have raised an impressive £1,675 for Maggie’s and feel that the challenge was a great team building exercise.
