Start the Festive Fun and Raise Money for Maggie's Edinburgh

Kick off the festive frolics and fun this year and head to The Advent Lunch at the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh on Monday 1 December in aid of the Maggie Centre in Edinburgh.

A three-course gourmet lunch with wine will be served in the majestic Grand Hall and Library where guests can enjoy some traditional Christmas entertainment by Erskine Stewart Melville’s School Choir.

A wide variety of stalls, demonstrations, entertainment and advice, will keep visitors busy and provide the opportunity for some inspiring gift, food and decoration ideas for the Christmas season.

So whether it’s new pair of Spanish-made shoes, handmade handbags, Fair Trade products or beautiful jewellery – there’s plenty of ideas for everyone.

For some festive food inspirations, Fiona Burrell, cookery writer and ex-Principal of Leith School of Food and Wine, London will be doing some demonstrations.  Meanwhile, Enid Reid, who has built up a reputation over the last 10 years as one of the most innovative and stylish floral designers, will be on hand with ideas on how to decorate your home during the Christmas season.

Fundraising Co-ordinator for Maggie’s Edinburgh, Marion Taylor commented:
“We are really grateful for the support we have received to organise The Advent Lunch – it’s a great way to start the festive season while raising money for Maggie’s. The centre relies completely on fundraising and this year all the generous donations have resulted in 19,000 visits to Maggie’s Edinburgh - each of these people coming in for practical, emotional and physiological support designed to help them find their own best way of living with a diagnosis of cancer."

Doors open at 11.00am and tickets for The Advent Lunch cost £55 with all the proceeds donated to Maggie’s Edinburgh. Please contact Maggie's Edinburgh on 0131 537 3135 to purchase your ticket.

Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre in Edinburgh provides emotional and psychological support to people with cancer and their friends and family at the Western General Hospital centre.
