The first major fundraising event for Maggie's Manchester was held this month and was a runaway success raising over £175,000 for the newly opened Centre.
Fifty models, all affected by cancer, took to the catwalk for a Fashion Show extravaganza and Gala Ball on Saturday 11 June.
The event, which was held beneath Concorde itself at the Runway Visitor Park, was produced by Manchester Board Member Margo Cornish in conjunction with committee members Carolyn Mellor, Vanda Murray, Janine Watson and Chairman Jim Martin.
Guests were treated to a fantastic array of entertainment including Cirque Burlesque, the Manchester Camerata and hosts Ted Robbins and Darren Parks, with the highlight being two superb performances by Rick Astley. Fashion was provided by Ted Baker, Debenhams, Gap, JD Williams and Coast.
We're so grateful to Margo Cornish and the committee for all the work and vision involved in creating such an amazing event.
To see all the models feel so special and be lifted by the experience was fantastic. The amount raised will make a huge contribution to Maggie’s this year, enabling us to provide the best quality support to people with cancer and their families in our beautiful new Centre.
A huge thank you to all the models, guests, volunteers for helping to make it such a day to remember – and of course our star performer Rick Astley.

The biggest thank you of all goes to our fabulous and inspirational Maggie's models themselves for having both the courage and the determination to get on the catwalk and strut their stuff and in some cases even more, in front of all their friends and families especially as I know that some of them are still going through treatment.
