Support group looking at physical and emotional change

We have recently completed our second Body Image group, finding again that it improves stress levels, mood and body image distress.

The group is about much more than traditional ‘body image’, which some may view as being about physical appearances or even vanity – rather, it addresses the tremendous changes and challenges that occur through cancer diagnosis and treatment, both emotionally and physically.

The group is led by Jenny, our Clinical Psychologist, and uses compassion-focused therapy to target complex emotions of guilt, anger, sadness and fear, and the unhelpful thinking patterns that maintain this distress. The group teaches a kinder way to be towards the self and the small group size creates a strong sense of shared experience with fellow group members.

We continue to develop the course alongside NHS colleagues, and new course dates are set for the end of May. For more information contact us on email or call us on 01224 645928.
