Maggie’s Centres offer a range of exercise options, including yoga, tai chi and walking groups.

All sessions are tailored to people with cancer and are flexible to suit your own needs. They can also provide a chance to talk to people going through a similar experience to you.

Evidence shows that exercise offers many benefits, from reducing fatigue and improving your wellness and physical fitness, to building your confidence during and after cancer treatment.

Many people affected by cancer have difficulty getting a good night’s sleep on a regular basis. Even before being affected by cancer, most people have experience of a bad night sleep but cancer increases sleep difficulties for some people.

This workshop will explore what sleep is, why it is important, and give you some top tips about how to improve sleep.

Stress management

Managing Stress is a six-week course for anyone who has, or has had, cancer, and their families and friends.

The course introduces different methods of relaxation including: controlling anxious thoughts, meditation, visualisation and ‘quick’ or emergency relaxation.

You will be given handouts and a relaxation CD so you can practice your stress management techniques at home and learn to draw on these techniques at times of pressure and anxiety.
