Reiki, a Japanese word for Universal Life Energy, is a relaxing and gentle technique where therapists believe they act as a channel for energy which they transfer through their hands to aid self-healing, rebalancing and relaxation.

A Reiki session involves sitting or lying down fully clothed, while the practitioner gently places their hands on or just above the body in a sequence of positions that allows energy to flow from the practitioner through to the person.

This approach can help to balance the body and deal with conditions such as stress and tiredness.

Stress Management Course

Managing Stress is a six-week course for anyone who has, or has had, cancer, and their families and friends.

The course introduces different methods of relaxation including: controlling anxious thoughts, meditation, visualisation and ‘quick’ or emergency relaxation.

You will be given handouts and a relaxation CD so you can practice your stress management techniques at home and learn to draw on these techniques at times of pressure and anxiety.

Our Cancer Support Specialist can offer advice on how to incorporate what you’ve learnt into your daily life after the course has finished.

CanExercise is simply Cancer Rehabilitation through exercise.

Movements and exercises are incorporated to regain and maintain range of motion, restore physical and emotional balance, reduce your risk of developing lymphoedema or to help control existing lymphoedema, and generally raise your energy levels whilst having fun!

Acupuncture helps rebalance the flow of energy, blood and fluids and can help to alleviate pain.

It works by stimulating and balancing the energy in the body through the insertion of sterile hair thin needles into ‘acupuncture points’.

Drop in

Mindfulness drop ins are on the 2nd Thursday of every month. 

By attending this session you will experience some mindfulness practices such as a sitting meditation, mindful movement or perhaps a mindful walking practice. You can immediately take these short practices away with you and incorporate them in your life to gain greater stability and ease. Following the mindful meditations the group is invited to reflect with interest on their direct experience of the practice and to share within the group only what feels comfortable.

Tai Chi has evolved into a number of systems of meditation, breathing exercises and other techniques to maintain health.
