Julian was diagnosed with cancer on the base of his tongue in June last year, after having ignored a lump in his neck for some time. After a month of preparation, weeks of radio therapy and chemotherapy, Julian was hit hard with the realisation of his diagnosis and his challenging treatment. Though Julian was hit hard by his treatment and not being able to eat, he always remained strong and positive with the help of Maggie’s and his family.
Julian recalls his lowest point was when he became really ill during treatment with an infection and decided to make the move to use Maggie’s. He was greeted with a smile and warmth immediately which in the days that followed meant so much to his recovery.
Maggie’s soon became his recovery place, so he could regain the strength for his family. Julian was given his all clear in January and recalled how much Maggie’s had helped him and his wife on the road to recovery. Counselling from Sally and the peace and tranquillity helped him feel positive to keep fighting on his ‘survival for life’ as he calls it. The peace and tranquillity allowed him to reflect and also share his feelings with others going through similar journeys.
