Where Now? helps you manage the physical, emotional and practical issues you may face after your treatment has finished, through a series of group sessions each lasting around three hours.

Each session is led by a Cancer Support Specialist and a Clinical Psychologist and offers the chance to explore key issues and concerns alongside other people in a similar situation.

Discussions during the course focus on the following topics:

  • Exercise
  • Healthy eating
  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Managing post-treatment challenges
  • Partnering with your medical team

Group support is available for people with any type of cancer and their friends and families: before, during or after treatment.

Every group provides an opportunity to talk to other people who are in a similar situation to you, and to share experiences. Groups offer a safe space to express emotions you might not want to share with your friends and family. You might learn from those a little way ahead of you in their journey and develop your own strategies for coping.

There are two kinds of group support at Maggie’s:

Support Groups, which are led by a psychologist and focus on the emotional impact of cancer.

Networking Groups, which bring together groups of people with the same type of cancer. These groups are tailored to a specific cancer and provide information on treatment options and techniques to improve wellbeing.

There's no need to book - just drop in.

For more information, please call the Centre on 01382 632999 or email dundee@maggiescentres.org

Creative writing is a way to explore thoughts, ideas and emotions that you might otherwise find difficult to express, with no skill or experience required.

The creative writing exercises can help you to slow down, relax and process your thoughts. Feelings that you might find difficult to put into words can be more easily expressed through metaphors and stories. As a process, writing can help you to learn to understand your feelings, which may help to build your confidence.
