With a range of walks to take part in from the 6.55 miles New Moon to the double marathon Over The Moon at 52.4 miles, this year’s event had a ceilidh theme, with walkers invited to ‘swing their tartan’ through the night!
So far, the event has raised over £400,000 to help people affected by cancer in Scotland.
Walk the Walk has pledged £3million from the proceeds of The MoonWalk Scotland to build Maggie’s Forth Valley, which when complete later this year will give Maggie’s a presence at every major cancer treatment hospital in Scotland.
Maggie’s Forth Valley will be the second Maggie’s Centre fully-funded by Walk the Walk and walkers of The Moonwalk Scotland. In 2011, walkers raised the funds needed to build Maggie’s Glasgow in the grounds of Gartnavel Hospital, and made a significant contribution to the building of Maggie’s Lanarkshire in 2014.
A huge thank you to everyone who donned their best bra to walk for Maggie’s. It was an incredible night of fundraising and we can’t wait for next year!
