We were absolutely delighted that Witches Craig Caravan Park funded a whole week of cancer support ar Maggie’s Forth Valley.
On Tuesday 18 April, Veda Dewar of Witches Craig Caravan and Camping Park met with Maggie’s volunteer Suzanne MacCrimmon to receive a thank you certificate from us after raising a fantastic £12,000.
Along for the show and a nibble on the certificate was little lamb Maggie born at Witches Craig on the same day we opened our doors for the first time in Forth Valley.
Veda, who runs Witches Craig Caravan Park in Blairlogie, Stirling, has been fundraising for Maggie’s Forth Valley, in memory of her mum Veda Stephen, since 2014.
I chose Maggie's out of appreciation for the Maggie's Glasgow. While my mum was receiving her chemotherapy dad would spend the day in the Maggie's Centre.
I wanted to make people aware that family and friends require support just as much as the person with cancer. I was delighted to hear that a new Maggie's was going to be built at Forth Valley.
My mum was on an emotional and physical rollercoaster throughout her illness but each day she made the most of what she could, just as Maggie's co-founder Maggie Keswick Jencks believed that people should not 'lose the joy of living in the fear of dying'.
I hope that many other people who are not as brave and strong as my Mum get the practical, emotional and social support that they and their family need at such a difficult time at Maggie’s Forth Valley.
We cannot express our gratitude enough to Veda, her friends and family who helped fundraise, and all at Witches Craig who donated to pay for a full week at Maggie’s.
This level of support allows us to keep our doors open completely free of charge for people when they need us most.
Witches Craig have funded everything here at Maggie’s Forth Valley, from trained staff to support groups and the tea and coffee served at our kitchen table.
We rely entirely on voluntary donations to allow us to keep on developing our unique programme of support for people living with cancer and to be able to offer that support to everyone who needs it.
