At the centre this summer we ran a fully subscribed programme for kids aged between 7 and 12 years old, who have or have had someone in the family with cancer.
During our storytelling event in July we explored words we use for emotions and feelings, using animal characters and movement.
Our Mindfulness for Kids event in August focused on using breathing and on shifting into mindful activities when we’re having difficult or uncomfortable feelings. We used bubbles, pebble painting and a mindful quest in our lovely Maggies landscape.
We’re taking bookings for our next Kids Day, on Saturday 16 November between 10am and 2pm, which includes an art session and a behind the scenes look at the Oncology department in Raigmore, including a CT scanner and Radiotherapy treatment machine. This day is for children aged between 7 and 12 years old, so drop in for a chat if you want to know more or book a place.
We’ll also be running a new session in early October called 'Talking to your children about your cancer' for parents with children of any age. Get in touch if you want more information.
