Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy is a group programme that combines meditation and cognitive behavioural therapy in order to help manage problems such as depression and stress that are often present following a diagnosis of and teatment for cancer.

Classes include meditation and other similar practices and then involve some reflection about this experience. Sometimes we break into small groups to discuss the practice and sometimes we stay in the larger group (you only have to give feedback if you want to).

Cognitive behavioural therapy exercises are included in the classes.

This course is facilitated by Notts Healthcare Practitioners here at Maggie's.

A weekly drop-in group for those who would like to help care for our beautiful garden.

Being in a natural environment has been shown to have a positive effect on wellbeing, improving mindfulness and reducing stress levels.

Our gardening group offers the chance to enjoy the gardens at Maggie’s Nottingham and take part in a creative activity with other people who are going through a similar experience.

If you’re unsure of how much you'll be able to do, just drop-in within the course times and take a look at our garden and meet Joolz our gardener. Joolz will show you around and discuss the group so you can decide if it’s right for you.

This networking group is for anyone diagnosed with Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPN) and their family and friends. It is facilitated by a clinical nurse specialist and a cancer support specialist from Maggie's Nottingham.

The group meets every third Wednesday of the month from 6-8pm.

Mindful relaxation is a process of self-discovery; a process of diving within yourself to find a greater inner strength, greater self awareness and self-confidence, better health, emotional and mental harmony. It is a form of stress management, a process of recognising and transforming negative thoughts via various relaxation and breathing techniques, meditation and mindfulness exercises.

The mindful relaxation classes are suitable for anyone who wants to experience a greater sense of relaxation and well-being in their every day lives. The classes take place in an informal setting and are not aligned to any particular religion. They are led by Marie Krnakova who has been involved in the field of mediation, mindfulness and relaxation for over six years.

If someone close to you has died from cancer, Maggie’s can help to support you. Our Bereavement Support Groups are a place to speak to others going through a similar experience and find advice, support and strategies for coping.

You can join our regular groups, or you can choose one-to-one bereavement support. They cover both emotional and practical concerns, from the day-to-day impact of bereavement and other relationships, to dealing with anniversaries and rebuilding your life.

Creative writing is a way to explore thoughts, ideas and emotions that you might otherwise find difficult to express, with no skill or experience required.

The creative writing exercises can help you to slow down, relax and process your thoughts. Feelings that you might find difficult to put into words can be more easily expressed through metaphors and stories. As a process, writing can help you to learn to understand your feelings, which may help to build your confidence.

This is a patient led group co-facilitated by a member of the Maggie’s team.

We are a group of ladies (and partners, carers and friends) in the Nottinghamshire area who support each other during and after various gynae cancers.

If you have been diagnosed or are undergoing treatment or have received treatment in the past, we would like to hear from you, whether you are looking for support, information, understanding or simply a cup of tea.

Our meetings are held bi-monthly on the last Tuesday of the month at the Maggie's Centre at Nottingham City Hospital from 7-9pm. There's always an opportunity for a chat and we often have speakers and guests on a range of helpful and informative topics.
