Jayne was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in November 2018. She’s undergone surgery and is now half way through her chemotherapy treatment, with radiotherapy yet to come.
Jayne is one incredible woman, in the midst of her treatment she decided to brave the shave for Maggie’s and has raised an unbelievable £3,400!
Jayne’s daughter Charlotte said:
My amazing Mum has already undergone a mastectomy, which was in itself the most traumatic and emotional time to go through. We were told at the end of January that with Mums cancer being so vicious she will undergo 6 months of chemotherapy along with 15 sessions of radiotherapy.
Many people loose their hair, eyebrows and eyelashes during treatment. For women this is such a big thing, hair loss is such an emotional subject and so personal and it has been one thing that has scared Mum.
Mum decided to get ahead of the game and shave all her hair off and she wanted to do it to raise money for Maggie’s. Our challenge is to keep her going and give her the best we can.
It was all a little overwhelming and emotional on the night but worth every minute. I couldn’t have done it without all my friends and family rallying around me.
Walking into Maggie’s for the first time, it instantly felt tranquil and relaxing. It made me realise I wasn’t alone. When you’re there it feels safe and you just know that everyone understands how you’re feeling and what you’re going through, and that’s so comforting.
I’ve been able to meet other people further on in their journey than me and that’s been such a huge support and reassurance.
