Where Now? Support beyond treatment

Where Now? is a seven-week course for anyone who has finished their cancer treatment, as well as their friends and family. It offers skills and techniques to support you through this transition period and beyond.

Where Now? helps you manage the physical, emotional and practical issues you may face after your treatment has finished, through a series of group sessions each lasting around three hours. Each session is led by a Cancer Support Specialist and a Clinical Psychologist and offers the chance to explore key issues and concerns alongside other people in a similar situation.

Discussions during the course focus on the following topics:

  • Exercise
  • Healthy eating
  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Managing post-treatment challenges
  • Partnering with your medical team
  • Keeping up momentum

Relaxation will be guided by talking you through focusing on the breath, connecting with the body and then continuing with a beautiful visualisation.

Expressive art is a way to explore your feelings – particularly those which can be difficult to put into words – with no skill or experience required.

Concentrating on creating art can help you slow down, relax and process your thoughts. Your unconscious mind can express feelings through pictures, colours and shapes that you might struggle to put into words. And by doing that you may begin to understand more about what you’re feeling, which can help to build your confidence.

This friendly and informal support group offers those who have experienced lymphoma, or are living with lymphoma, the opportunity to meet others. Family and friends also welcome. Occasional guest speaker. This group is facilitated by Lymphoma Specialist nurses.

Our instructor will lead you through gentle sequences of Tai Chi movements to movements to improve relaxation and enhance wellbeing.

A seven week Tai Chi course will run on Thursdays from 10.30–11.30am.

Managing Stress, Learning Relaxation & Visualisation is a practical course which will introduce you to some of the relaxaction and stress management techniques that research has shown help people affected by cancer and give you a chance to practice and develop the skills you learn. The course if for people who have had a cancer diagnosis as well as their carers, family and friends.

Eating for Health

Eating well during and after cancer treatment can make a real difference to the way you feel. Our nutrition workshops introduce you to types of food that are particularly good for you – and tasty ways to enjoy them.

The workshops also cover treatment-related eating challenges, and offer the chance to ask questions about your own diet.

You will be given a booklet on eating well, a selection of inspiring recipes and recommendations for websites to help you eat healthy, delicious meals.

Pre-booking is required.

All sessions are tailored to people with cancer and are flexible to suit your own needs. They can also provide a chance to talk to people going through a similar experience to you.

Evidence shows that exercise offers many benefits, from reducing fatigue and improving your wellness and physical fitness, to building your confidence during and after cancer treatment.
