On a chilly Monday morning, 4th February, we were joined by many Maggie’s Southampton supporters for our ground breaking ceremony. Thank you to UHS Staff, BECG, Southampton Archery Club, Spire Healthcare Southampton, and Hillier to name just a few.
Being built in the grounds of Southampton University Hospital directly next to the oncology department ‐a leader in cancer research and a global centre of excellence ‐ Maggie’s will complement the cancer treatments and research taking place at the hospital. Every year 5,000 people in the region are diagnosed with cancer. As the number of people living with cancer increases, support becomes even more important.
Once open, Maggie’s Southampton will give visitors access to a range of support that Maggie’s offers, including psychological support, benefits advice, nutrition workshops, relaxation and stress management, art therapy, tai chi and yoga. The Centre is due to open in Spring 2020.
