Our art groups are open to everyone and no skill or experience is required, with the aim being for you to get a better understanding of your feelings through the creative process.

Making art can help you to slow down, relax and process your thoughts. Your unconscious mind can express feelings through pictures, colours and shapes that you might usually find difficult to put into words.

You can learn to understand your feelings, which can give you more confidence.

This is a drop in session, so there's no need to book, just turn up and enjoy.

Tai chi combines deep breathing and relaxation with flowing movements. Originally developed as a martial art in 13th-century China, tai chi is today practised around the world as a health-promoting exercise.

This practice combines a deep breathing and relaxation with slow and gentle movements that put very litte pressure on bones and joints. It can help release stress and tension and promotes relaxation, co-ordination, muscle tone, increased energy flow, confidence, good posture and balance.

All the sessions are tailored to people with cancer and are flexible to suit your own needs, so you only need to do what feels comfortable.

If you want to take part, wear the sort of clothing that allows plenty of unrestricted movement.

This is a drop-in group session, so there's no need to book in advance.

Monthly Fatigue Workshop

Monthly Fatigue Workshop

14.00 - 16.00
Group session
Monthly
Pre book

Feeling tired is a common side effect of cancer or cancer treatments. But fatigue is a lasting sense of tiredness that interferes with daily activities and isn’t activity related, and it can be a common side effect for anyone with a cancer diagnosis.

Tiredness can be hard to deal with, but try to rest your body as much as possible and plan your daily activities to allow time for a rest at some point during the day. It can also help if you can think ahead and find ways of managing situations, for example, being prepared for a flight of stairs or avoiding places that are busy.

Talking this through with a support group may help.

If you'd like to attend this workshop, please contact the Centre to book a place.

14.00 - 15.30

Nutrition workshop with our dietician

Nutrition workshop with our dietician

14.00 - 15.30
Group session
Monthly
Pre book

Maggie's nutrition workshops offer practical advice and encouragement about eating well for people with cancer, and their familes and freinds.

Each workshop covers balanced diets, types of food that are particularly good for you and why, and the best ways to eat, both during and after treatment, with particular attention paid to treatmentrelated eating challenges.

There is plenty of time for questions and comments and each participant is given a supporting booklet and website recommendations as well as a selection of inspiring recipes to take home afterwards.

If you'd like to come along, give the Centre a call first to book a place.
