Expressive art is a way to explore your feelings – particularly those which can be difficult to put into words – with no skill or experience required.

Concentrating on creating art can help you slow down, relax and process your thoughts. Your unconscious mind can express feelings through pictures, colours and shapes that you might struggle to put into words. And by doing that you may begin to understand more what you’re feeling, which can help to build your confidence.

Feeling tired is a common side effect of cancer or cancer treatments and fatigue is a lasting sense of tiredness that interferes with daily activities and isn’t activity related, it can be a common side effect for anyone with a cancer diagnosis and may lead to difficulties in doing every day tasks.

Tiredness can sometimes be hard to deal with but try to rest your body as much as possible. It may be possible to plan your daily activities to allow time for a rest during the day. It can also help if you can think ahead and find ways of managing situations, for example, being prepared for a flight of stairs or avoiding places that are busy. Talking this through with a support group may help.

We run a course focused on fatigue management. The weekly sessions will provide information on coping strategies as well as techniques and skills to help you understand and improve your symptoms.

If you would like to attend the course then please drop into the Centre for further details or give us a call on 01223 249220 for dates and availability.
